Bring your Little Sister to Belle Isle Marsh. This is a hot spot for bird sightings! Join a DCR Ranger and look for spring migrants in and around Belle Isle, and also enjoy a leisurely hike. Terrific Tree Treasure Hunt

 Visit Breakheart Reservation for a fun treasure hunt with your Little Sister during her school vacation week! You will learn about trees and Asian Long Horned beetles while searching for hidden treasure! Drop in anytime during the allotted time periods for the 45 minute hunt. Teen Matches Give Back

Big Sister Association is partnering with Boston Cares to help clean Dorchester park on Global Youth Service Day! We are inviting 10 teen matches to participate in this community service match activity. Gardening tools will be provided. Please wear long sleeves, full length pants and gloves. Earth Day Recycling

Tour the Harvard Recycling and Surplus Center. Here used computers get refurbished, clothing is bagged, books are boxed, and items of all kinds are stored for donations to charities. Join a DCR Ranger for a beautiful sunset hike with your Little Sister! Hike to Bear Hill to watch the sun set in the western sky. If you’re lucky, you may glimpse Mercury, Venus, Mars and Jupiter. Stargazing at the Museum of Science

Boston, MA
Friday, April 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 8:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Stay up late and view the stars! Use the Museum of Science’s computer controlled Celestron CGE 1100 Schmidt Cassegrain telescope and learn about our universe. At 5:30 p.m. the Museum decides if the weather will allow for great stargazing! Please call the Gilliland Observatory at (617) 723-2500 before you attend. Park at the Cambridge Side Galleria for low cost parking, or take the T and get off at the Science Park stop on the Green Line.


Poetry Slam

Is your Little Sister a budding poet? If so, she is invited to share her poems or listen to the poems that other teens have written. Your Little Sister will be allowed 5 minutes to present her poem and you will be able to cheer her on! This event is free and open to the public and is for Little Sisters ages 13-18.

Hatha Yoga Classes

Get your Zen on with your Little Sister! Every Tuesday night in April the Fields Corner Library is offering free Hatha Yoga classes. These classes are open to participants of all levels, including beginners. The class incorporates a gentle, meditative style of yoga. Participants should wear loose comfortable clothing, and bring a yoga mat or towel.

Spring Arts & Crafts Festival

Bring your Little Sister to this local spring themed arts and crafts fair! There will be over 60 arts and crafts vendors, musical entertainment groups, and Irish step dance performance, self-defense workshops, and many crafts you can make yourself! Vernal Pool Exploration

Explore the slippery and slimy life found in temporary spring pools! Many salamanders, frogs, and aquatic insects begin their life here. Opening Day of the Swan Boats

Be the first to ride the Swan Boats this spring season! The Swan Boats will reappear in Boston’s Public Garden on April 16th. Big Sister Appreciation Breakfast

Celebrate the journey that you and your Little Sister have traveled together at our annual Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast, held at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Cambridge. This annual event will feature a full buffet breakfast, a free photo booth, entertainment by the Genki Spark and special keynote speaker, Alicia Canady.

Going Batty!

Build and “adopt” a bat box with your Little Sister! You will build a home for a furry little bat friend and DCR park rangers will place it in Blue Hills Reservation for a bat to live in! Tools and materials are provided. There is no need to be a master carpenter to enjoy this activity! This event is free and is open to the public and is for Little Sisters ages 8 to 20.
